Bassford Remele attorneys undertake pro bono work every year
Bassford Remele strives to improve the lives of the most needy in the community it serves by providing pro bono services to those who might otherwise go without representation. We define pro bono work as providing professional services at no fee or a reduced fee to persons of limited means or to public service groups or charitable organizations.
Pro bono services at the firm are managed through a committee that is responsible for monitoring and developing the efforts of all of our attorneys. Many of Bassford Remele’s attorneys undertake pro bono work every year.
Housing Clinic
Bassford Remele accepts housing case referrals to assist low income tenants. We represent tenants in eviction actions, repair and covenants of habitability cases, and security deposit disputes.
Volunteer Lawyers Network
Conciliation Court Legal Advice Clinic
The Volunteer Lawyers Network serves the legal needs of low-income individuals in Hennepin County by matching them with volunteer attorneys for free legal services. Bassford Remele attorneys participate in the Conciliation Court Legal Advice Clinic on a weekly basis.
Chrysalis
Under Minnesota law, restraining orders can be obtained on behalf of victims of abuse to gain some protection from their abusers. The court process can be overwhelming to anyone, much less to someone who has been threatened or harmed. Since 1973 Chrysalis has provided resources and support to women in the Twin Cities suffering through family problems and abuse situations. Through the Pro Bono Safety Project at Chrysalis, Bassford Remele lawyers and paralegals represent women in court to obtain restraining orders for themselves and their children.
