Frederick Finch Nominated to the American Bar Association Board of Governors

Date: February 24, 2009 — Minneapolis, MN  

Bassford Remele is pleased to announce that Shareholder Frederick E. Finch has been nominated to serve as a member of the American Bar Association’s Board of Governors during the ABA Midyear Meeting in Boston. The election will be held in August by the policy-making ABA House of Delegates, when it meets at the 2009 ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago. If elected, Mr. Finch will be one of 40 representatives who oversee the administration and management of the association.

Mr. Finch is an experienced trial lawyer who has practiced in the areas of employment and labor law, business torts, and related matters for more than 30 years.  He is a member of the ABA House of Delegates where he has been the Minnesota State Delegate since 2000 and serves on numerous committees.  He is also currently a member of the ABA’s Labor and Employment Law Section, Committee on Development of the Law under the NLRA, State and Local Government Labor Law Committee and the Section of Litigation.

Mr. Finch is an active and enthusiastic leader of the organized bar. Among his many leadership positions, he has been President of the Hennepin County Bar Association, a member of the Assembly, Board of Governors and Executive Committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association.  He has twice received the MSBA’s Presidents Award for his exceptional contributions to the organization.  He has made substantial contributions to the profession as chair of the MSBA Rules of Professional Conduct Committee, the MSBA Task Force on the American Bar Association Model Rules, and served as co-chair of the MSBA’s award-winning Hurricane Katrina Task Force.

Mr. Finch has presented numerous lectures and written articles on employment law, labor law and lawyers professional responsibility. Finch received the Minnesota State Bar Association David Graven Award for Public Service for his efforts as co-chair of the Hurricane Katrina Task Force.
