Defense Verdict in Malpractice Case
Date: April 10, 2008 — Minneapolis, MN
Bassford Remele Shareholder Mark R. Whitmore and Associate Melissa C. Gregory successfully attained a defense verdict in a medical malpractice matter arising out of surgery to a patient's foot. The patient had alleged that hospital staff was negligent in connection with a pain pump that had been ordered by the physician. The jury returned a verdict finding that nursing staff was not the cause of any damage to the patient. Following the jury's verdict, the case against the hospital was voluntarily dismissed.
Mr. Whitmore has successfully tried cases in federal and state courts throughout the upper midwest involving a wide range of areas including medical malpractice, commercial and employment disputes, and personal injury. Although he handles a wide range of matters, much of his practice focuses on defending medical malpractice claims and providing guidance to area hospitals on risk management, claim prevention and governmental investigations. This practice extends to the representation of doctors, nurses and other professionals in matters pending before the Minnesota licensing boards.
