Kevin Hickey to Present on ERISA Liens

Bassford Remele Shareholder Kevin P. Hickey will give a presentation at the annual Minnesota Motor Vehicle Accident seminar on "ERISA Liens" on May 21, 2009. Mr. Hickey is also the author of the chapter on "Medical Subrogation Issues" in the new edition of the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Accident Deskbook published by the Minnesota State Bar Association. Shareholder Jan M. Gunderson and Attorney Jeffrey R. Mulder authored a chapter on Jury Instructions.
Kevin Hickey represents health plans, fiduciaries and employers in litigation arising under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. He also handles intellectual property/technology claims, and has represented a number of technology companies in litigation and risk management. Mr. Hickey also has significant experience in handling professional liability matters, unfair competition claims and employment litigation. He has appeared on many occasions before the Minnesota Supreme Court and Minnesota Court of Appeals, and has handled several landmark cases in Minnesota on issues involving the rights of health plans and insurers.
Jan Gunderson has tried more than 30 jury trials in personal injury defense, no-fault and insurance coverage, sexual harassment/abuse, employment, child care negligence, and premises liability. She represents non-profits, government entities, corporations, and individuals in state and federal courts and in arbitration forums including AAA and NASD. Ms. Gunderson is a past president of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a present member of its National Board, A.B.O.T.A., an international group of accomplished trial attorneys that promotes law as a profession and the right to trial by jury.
Jeffrey Mulder graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. He practices law in all areas of civil litigation, including professional liability, insurance coverage, employment law, motor vehicle and no-fault.
