Brian Sande Publishes Insurance Coverage Article

Bassford Remele Shareholder Brian H. Sande has published an article in the May 2008 issue of For the Defense, a publication of the Defense Research Institute. The article, entitled Fishing for Coverage: Can Discovery Nets Be Avoided, addresses a matter of interest to all insurers involved in coverage lawsuits. It discusses whether various information sometimes requested by policyholders in coverage litigation, such as claims handling manuals, underwriting materials, other policy forms and policy drafting history, and statements by insurer personnel, may be discoverable.
Mr. Sande is a summa cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, practicing primarily in complex insurance coverage and commercial litigation matters. He is a member of both the Minnesota and Wisconsin Bar Associations, and practices before both state and federal district courts in those jurisdictions. He also has handled appellate matters in Minnesota and Wisconsin's state courts of appeals and supreme courts, and before the Seventh and Eighth Circuit U.S. Courts of Appeals. Mr. Sande is a member of the Insurance Law Committees of the Defense Research Institute and the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, and is presently the co-chair of the MDLA Insurance Law Committee.
