Steve Plunkett has been appointed as Chair of the Law Institute, DRI’s educational oversight entity. DRI is the leading organization of defense attorneys and corporate counsel, providing resources to attorneys striving to deliver high-quality, balanced, and excellent service to their clients. For more than 50 years, DRI has been a provider of renowned legal education seminars, a host to 30 substantive law committees, a database of 65,000 experts, and a network for more than 21,000 like-minded defense practitioners. Steve has been a member of DRI since 1989 and the Law Institute since 2008.
As the Law Institute Chair, Steve is charged with overseeing DRI’s vast educational offerings. From the more than 25 national seminars covering civil litigation topics as wide as Diversity and Inclusion to Cannabis Law, the Law Institute guides the development, marketing, and implementation of these seminar programs. He is honored to be selected as the chair and is “looking forward to continuing DRI’s reputation for leading-edge educational offerings.”
DRI also selected Steve to chair its planning committee for the 2019 Annual Meeting where over 900 DRI leaders will gather in New Orleans to plan DRI’s future. As chair, Steve will lead a talented team of 22 DRI members in the development and implementation of networking, education, and community service at the three-day meeting.
Steve concentrates his practice in health care and sexual misconduct defense, bringing nearly 30 years of experience to his role as litigator and counsel. He has defended health care and other clients in hundreds of cases involving bodily injury or the death of residents in group homes and assisted living or skilled nursing facilities. Steve also represents corporations sued for their employees’ sexual misconduct. He is licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Steve is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America© for Personal Injury Litigation and Professional Malpractice Law.
