Jennifer Bovitz Presents on Attorney Conflicts of Interest

NEWS

Bassford Remele Shareholder and Associate General Counsel Jennifer Bovitz recently presented at a national BARBRI webinar. Her presentation, “Attorney Conflicts of Interest and Prohibited Transactions: Identifying and Resolving Ethical Challenges,” explored strategies for minimizing ethics violations and reducing the risk of malpractice claims.

Conflicts of interest are a daily consideration for most practitioners and can arise in many forms—through business transactions, representation of multiple clients, prohibited transactions, or decisions to take on new matters. Attorneys must understand how to identify and appropriately address these potential conflicts, seek client consent when necessary, and include effective conflict provisions in engagement letters.

The panel of ethics-focused attorneys discussed how to anticipate and manage conflicts, approach client consent, and implement best practices to avoid problems before they occur.
