Firm Obtains Dismissal for Clients

Michael A. Klutho and Jessica L. Klander recently represented a law firm and one of its attorneys in district court and on appeal and obtained a decision affirming summary judgment in a legal malpractice case involving but-for causation claims. Zimmer v. Larson, No. A17-0836 (Minn. App. Jan. 2, 2018).

Firm Welcomes Associates

Andrew J. Marnach and Jessica L. Kometz have joined Bassford Remele. Mr. Marnach is a litigator whose practice focuses in complex tort and construction litigation. Ms. Kometz focuses her practice in litigation, with an emphasis in consumer law defense and employment.

Jury Defense Verdict

Bassford Remele shareholder Cecilie M. Loidolt recently received a jury defense verdict in a medical malpractice trial. Plaintiff alleged negligent failure to diagnosis a post total knee arthroplasty complication resulting in pain and suffering, and the need for a revision surgery. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant orthopedic surgeon and his clinic in less than an hour of deliberations.

Jury Defense Verdict

Bassford Remele shareholder Cecilie M. Loidolt recently received a jury defense verdict in a medical malpractice trial. Plaintiff alleged that the defendants negligently performed a laminectomy and discectomy resulting in cauda equina syndrome, and permanent neurological injury. Plaintiff’s counsel asked the jury for $3 million in damages. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant orthopedic surgeon and his clinic in less than an hour of deliberations.

Jury Defense Verdict

Bassford Remele shareholder Mark R. Bradford recently received a defense verdict in a case where the plaintiff asserted claims for malicious prosecution, abuse of process, fraud, unjust enrichment, civil conspiracy, and punitive damages. The jury found for Bassford Remele’s client on all claims.
