In Remembrance of Rebecca Egge Moos (Becky)
It is with deep sadness—and great gratitude for a life so well lived—that we announce the passing of our beloved friend, partner, trailblazer, and legend, Rebecca Egge Moos. Becky was not only one of Minnesota’s most accomplished and respected trial lawyers, but also a mentor, leader, and steadfast friend to so many. Her wisdom, integrity, and compassion touched every life she encountered, and she will be dearly missed.
Becky made history at Bassford Remele (then Richards, Montgomery, Cobb & Bassford) in 1977 when she joined as the firm’s first female attorney. In 2005, she again broke barriers by becoming our first female Chief Executive Officer. Over her remarkable career, she defended and counseled leading health care organizations and earned a reputation as one of the most formidable, professional, and effective trial lawyers in the state.
Becky’s accomplishments are inspiring:
- First female in Minnesota inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers
- First female President of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association
- President of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA)
- Chair of the Fourth District Ethics Committee
- Co-Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Commission on Multidisciplinary Practice
- Board of Directors, University of Minnesota Law School
Her professional excellence was recognized with Minnesota Lawyer’s Outstanding Service to the Profession Award and the Minnesota ICON Award.
Beyond her achievements, Becky will be remembered for her extraordinary mentorship, her steady and calming presence, her humor, her perseverance, and her unwavering dedication to professionalism. She believed in winning the right way—and never compromised her ethics in the pursuit of success.
Becky’s legacy will live on in the countless lawyers she inspired, the clients she championed, and the friends and colleagues who were privileged to work alongside her.
