Bassford Remele has taken a fresh approach to an age-old practice: a focus on diversity and inclusion.

Bassford Remele knows that fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion promotes well-rounded legal perspectives and enables our lawyers to better connect with, serve, and understand our clients and the communities in which they operate. We also know that these practices enhance our workplace culture and relationships, as well as the lives of those around us. Because of this, Bassford Remele actively champions a range of initiatives focused on fostering individuality.


Bassford Remele’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Team actively promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of our firm, serving as a conduit between firm leaders and employees, affinity and bar groups, and our community. Our team is made up of lawyers and staff who work together to make our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives a part of everything we do. Our team drives participation in and support of a broad range of initiatives spanning recruitment, retention, and advancement, to involvement and leadership in affinity and bar associations and in the community at large.


The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Team works in partnership with the firm’s Board of Directors and Recruiting Committee to foster a diverse workforce. Our formal Recruiting and Mentor Programs support the recruitment, development, and retention of talented, diverse attorneys. Bassford Remele participates in the Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference, sponsored by Twin Cities Diversity in Practice. Bassford Remele offers work-life balance supportive elements such as employee benefits packages that are friendly to a spectrum of lifestyles and life circumstances.


Bassford Remele has established a scholarship at each of the three Minnesota law schools to promote diversity in the legal profession. The scholarships provide financial assistance to law students interested in civil litigation and who are part of a diverse or underrepresented group within the legal field.


Through leadership roles, memberships, and sponsorships, Bassford Remele proudly partners with a large number of professional organizations, bar and affinity associations, and community agencies dedicated to furthering diversity and inclusion causes. Bassford Remele supports the diversity initiatives of the Federal Bar Association and the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association and its lawyers are actively involved in groups such as the Minnesota Women Lawyers, Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, and others. Our pro bono and community involvement initiatives also support our diversity and inclusion work.
