Bassford Remele is strongly committed to serving the community through pro bono services.

Bassford Remele cultivates the spirit of pro bono work and community service to promote a deeper experience for our lawyers, staff, and clients. We recognize we are uniquely qualified to help underrepresented individuals navigate the legal landscape, and we have the resources to support and partner with organizations that benefit our greater community. Bassford Remele has offered pro bono work, volunteer services, and financial support in a variety of capacities since the firm was established in 1882, and we are committed to continuing our work during the next century.

Bassford Remele actively supports a variety of organizations, including legal clinics and advocacy groups in our community.

LEGAL CLINICS

Volunteer Lawyers Network-Conciliation Court Legal Advice Clinic

Once a month our lawyers work at Volunteer Lawyers Network, which connects low-income individuals in Hennepin County with legal service providers. Due to COVID-19, the clinic has been closed.

ADVOCACY GROUPS

Tubman

Through the Pro Bono Safety Project at Tubman, an organization that helps women, children, and families struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse, and mental health issues, our lawyers and paralegals provide representation to victims of domestic abuse. We proudly assisted in the establishment of this program many years ago.

Federal Pro Bono Project

Bassford Remele lawyers connect with underrepresented individuals through the Federal Court bench by providing initial legal consultations, and at time more lengthy representation to pro se litigants.

Just Deeds

Just Deeds is a coalition of community stakeholders committed to acknowledging and addressing systemic racism in housing in Minnesota. Bassford Remele lawyers and paralegals provide free legal and title services to help property owners find discriminatory covenants and discharge them from their property titles.

Standpoint

Our lawyers volunteer at Standpoint, formerly known as the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project, an organization that advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence in Minnesota.

The Advocates for Human Rights

Bassford Remele lawyers represent immigrants seeking asylum in the United States.
